New Day

This is a great day, a new day, an imperfect but glorious day. This day every 4 years for the past two centuries symbolizes the best of our democracy, PTP - the peaceful transition of power. For the first time since the 1800s, the outgoing president will not hand off the baton in this magnificent relay race. It’ll be left on the ground at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the new president to pick it up. But pick it up he shall, and move on we will (Yoda - 2021).


I’ve been at each inauguration for 20 years, as have all our kids at various points to celebrate this process no matter who we voted for. A single person’s Reality Refusal and a willingness of millions to support it created the most disruptive transition in our history and prevented public participation. But PTP survived, and this New Day is our opportunity to move forward.


The country and world will participate virtually. We’ll attend in person in another 4 years to honor the process and celebrate the newly elected president no matter who it is.
